Skeet Doubles County Championship
The 2016 Skeet Doubles Championship was held at Nottingham & District Gun Club in conjunction with the Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire County Championships on Sunday 25th June. A bright but breezy day the (latter making for some testing targets), greeted the 63 competitors, of which 27 were Nottinghamshire shooters.
The early pace was set by Pat Dickman with a superb 97 that stood through the day to make Pat the worthy winner at the close of play. Meanwhile both Andy Swaine and Roger Ball posted great 95's to come close but not quite close enough to challenge Pat. Roger's score did however secure him the Veteran's title by a hair's breath from John Miller on 94. Not far behind them and taking a rare day of from trap shooting was non other than this year's DTL County Champion Lee Clements, who recorded a cracking 92, 4x 23's on the bounce well done you fella!
Meanwhile in the ladies category Hayley Denoon scored a great 88, to take that title from Jenny Hilton on 81. Whilst young Tom Tristram scored a very impressive 92 to take the Junior Title, followed by Matt Hall, who recorded a very creditable 76.
The AA class shield was won by John Miller on 94. Andy Swaine took the A class shield with his 95. Russ Hufton also took a day off from Trap shooting to take the B class shield with 89 and Darrel White rounded the day off with a superb 94 to take the C class shield.
